How to Set Your Home Apart for God’s Glory
November 4, 2025Philippians 2:9–11 (KJV)
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
The name of Jesus is not an ordinary name—it carries divine power, heavenly authority, and eternal significance. Every born-again believer draws strength, victory, and derives power and authority from His name.
We gain access to God the Father and all goodness in His presence through this mighty name of Jesus.
Jesus Himself said in John 16:23–24:
“Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you… ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
There is no other name on earth or in heaven that opens heaven’s door and works miracles like the name of Jesus. Understanding and using this name rightly is key to victorious Christian living.
Why the Name of Jesus Is So Special
- It Was Divinely Chosen
When the angel announced the birth of Christ, he said in Matthew 1:21:
“Thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
The name Jesus means Saviour.
Through His name, salvation comes to all who believe. Romans 10:13 affirms:
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
The name of Jesus saves from sin, sickness, fear, and every operation of darkness. Acts 10:38 reminds us that Jesus went about “doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.”
When you call His name in faith, salvation, healing, and deliverance happens.
- The Name is a Refuge and a Shield
The Bible says in Proverbs 18:10:
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
When you call upon the name of Jesus, you step into divine protection. His name is a covering that shields you from destruction. Just as God “shut Noah in” the ark (Genesis 7:16), the Lord shuts His people into safety when they run to Him in faith.
When storms rage, when danger threatens, or when life feels uncertain — just call His name. He will show up for you.
- The Name Is Superior to Every Other Name
God has exalted Jesus and given Him a name above every name (Philippians 2:9–11).
Every other names; whether sickness, fear, oppression, or demonic power are inferior and subject to the name of Jesus; therefore they must bow to His name.
There is no other name that heals, saves, delivers, blesses, and works miracles like the name of Jesus.
Song:
“No other names like the name of Jesus,
No other names like the name of the Lord
No other names like the name of Jesus
He’s worthy of glory
He’s worthy of honour
He’s worthy of power and praise”
Whatever name has been troubling your life; today, they bow to the name of Jesus! Speak His name over your children, your family, your health, your career, and every situation. There is power in that name!
How to Use the Name of Jesus
- Call His Name With Faith
Faith activates the power in His name.
Peter said in Acts 3:16:
“His name, through faith in His name, hath made this man strong.”
When you call upon the name of Jesus, believe that He will respond. Mark 11:22–24 teaches us to have faith in God and not doubt in our hearts. When faith rises, mountains move.
Don’t call the timidly, or weakly or as if you don’t care. Call the name with faith and boldness!
- Call His Name With Purpose
Don’t call the name of Jesus casually or mechanically. Call it with conviction, purpose and intent.
Blind Bartimaeus cried out passionately in Mark 10:47–48:
“Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me!”
And Jesus stopped for him.
Your faith-filled cry still gets His attention today.
- You must have a relationship with Him:
The name of Jesus works for those who know Him personally. It is not a magical formula.
In Acts 19:13–16, the sons of Sceva tried to use the name of Jesus without relationship, and the evil spirit overpowered them.
For Jesus to show up for you when you call His name, you must be born again and walk with Him daily.
The power of the name flows through intimacy with its Owner.
Please give your life to Jesus today, so you can have the right to call on the Name with authority and power and He will answer.
